Everyone has that one person who introduced them to good music,
and that one band who started it all,
and the first concert where you realized you weren’t alone, and that there were more people like you out there
and everyone has that one show that changes things for them, that turns a light on in your head that says this is where i belong
and everyone this happens to knows; you don’t go back
you can’t go back,
and as everyone then listens to the radio, they realize; your life is no longer defined by a boring pop song with meanless choruses, instead you turn to the music written as if it could be the soundtrack to your life, the music that redifines everything you know to be good music

this is the most fucking amazing thing i have read in my entire life. so simple, so truthful, so full of meaning. i agree with every single word.
i do actually remember the first band i fell completely in love with, and i remember the first couple shows where i realized i wasn’t alone. and it’s definitely true that you can never go back once you’ve experienced that kind of overwhelming passion and love for something.
it’s cliche, but it’s so true.
every couple weeks i discover new bands that amaze me, new bands that i can just sense i’ll still be listening to in years to come. there are those brand new bands i’ve just recently gotten into but know i’m always going to love, those bands i can never really let go of for personal reasons, those bands that i respect because they changed the face of music forever, those bands that opened for a bigger band when no one knew who they were but still managed to sell a ton of merch after the show because we could all sense they were going places. they’re ALL amazing to me.
music = life.
